My Guardian Angel Flips Me Off
A year ago, my life changed forever. I lost my best friend. When people hear that my Grandmother was my best friend, they tend to get a littttttle "weirded?" I don't mind. She was the most perfect person on the planet! If you know me, you know that I am a very sassy person. Well, imagine that sass plus 50 years of experience. Right? She was the goofiest, silliest, and strongest woman I've even had the privilege of knowing. We even had turtle friendship bracelets! So if you get in my car and ask, "What is with the turtles?" those are my guardian turtles. My Granny was the type of person that if she liked you, she flipped you off. If you really was on her good side, you got flipped off twice.
The night before she passed away, the nurse said, "She is waiting on something. I don't know what it is, but she is waiting on something." The night of July 23rd, 2014...I went into the room where she was. I held her hand and I talked to her. I knew she could hear me, so I said..."It's ok." She squeezed my hand a little and then I left the room. I woke up just a little time later to go check on her and she didn't have a pulse. Nothing. She was...gone. My heart sank to my stomach and I went to wake up my mom. It was one of the WORST things I have ever had to do...and I've been through a lot. I was heartbroken. It was like a reverse nightmare. Usually when you wake up from a nightmare, you're relieved. I just kept waking up to a nightmare.

Oddly hours after, I was ok. Why? Because for the first time since I started taking care of my Granny she was safe. It was like a fog film was removed from my eyes because the one person I always worried about was finally protected. On August 4th, I was outside at soccer practice...I was speaking with my friend Chelsey. I just wanted to know she was ok. A sure sign is what I wanted. In that moment of time, a middle finger formed in the clouds just like she use to flip me off. In that time, I knew my Guardian Angel was for sure...safe.
