What is Love?
What is love?! Baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me. No mo! Betcha that was the first thing to pop into your head when you saw the title, right? I'll probably be singing that song the whole time I write this. But seriously, what is love anymore?
We need to bring back the dating world. How many people still get to know one another by going on a date? Not many. We live in a world where everything is at our fingertips. We're dating our phones. Through online dating and social media...there leaves very little room to spark up conversation with someone. We should definitely bring back old fashion dating. Go to the movies, dinner, a walk in the park, ice skating, and just hanging out with someone. A date doesn't have to break the bank. Instead of living in a society of "Netflix & chill" try just being with someone and talk with them. And by golly just ask someone on a date! If you like them, ask. The worst they can say is no and then move on. Either way it provides closure. You get the date? Or you don't waste your time catching feelings who won't have them back for you. Do yourself a favor and be accountable for your own love life.
In a world where true relationships are hard to find and "relationship goals" are all over the place it is hard to find the meaning of love and relationships anymore. People are "in love" and getting engaged way too soon in my opinion. Right now it's after Christmas and my Facebook timeline is full of "____ got engaged to ____ today." That's cool? I've had m&m's sitting in my cabinet for longer than yalls been dating. You know, I'm not the one to say that love has a timeline...but I do believe that timeline has to be longer than a month. People are just wanting to grow old with someone too soon when actually they forgot to grow up first.
"Relationship Goals."
Stop that. Stop comparing every aspect of another relationship to yours! Be unique. Your relation isn't going to be a perfect fairy tail. "He got me a giant teddy bear! OMG! Relationship goals!" Honey, you know damn well that bear is going to sit and collect dust. What do you need a 7ft tall bear for? Don't say you are relationship goals when y'all been together for 2 months. But again, I'm not the one to say if you love each other or not. But don't you want time to get to know one another?
Real goals? Going through life together. Growing old with someone. Sitting on the front porch in rocking chairs. Making fun of one another in a cute way. Knowing the details of the other person like no one else. Their favorite color, their favorite foods, pet peeves, the way someone's laugh is. Getting to marry your best friend because you took time to get to know them as your best friend.
Once you find that person who pushes you to be your best and genuinely makes you happy, hold on to them tight. Being married someday is going to be so cool. Like, you get to come home to your best friend every single day and just do life together. So what is love? I'm not sure exactly what it is but when I find it, I'll cherish it forever. Forever; the timeline I can wait to follow.
Also; shoutout to the peeps who helped influence this blog! Kyle & Sarah, Victoria & Drew, Taylor & Austin, Courtney & Evan. Y'all keep doing that precious love thang that you do.
