'Cause We're Young and We're Reckless

We’ve all been there. The comparative time. You know, that time in your life where you think you’re doing awful because you’re comparing yourself to others. Scrolling on your Facebook page, you see yourself doing it. Comparing to your peeps from high school. Please tell me I’m not the only one who does this. A marriage here, a new job there. Engagements are absolutely everywhere! Heck, even that one guy who stuck a breath mint in his nose as a dare in 7th grade has his crap together. But here you are. Before you break open the breakfast vodka and resign yourself to a day of depression drinking - to be honest, you’re probably doing a lot better than you think.
  • Do you have a job? Not like CEO...I mean, if you are that's cool. But the first step in adulthood I guess is realizing you need money to get by. You may not be happy with your job right now or your financial situation, but it’s all about experience, and at some point you’ll leverage one hell of a recommendation. Stay strong young grasshopper.
  • You can take care of yourself is the BIGGEST thing. (this is going to be my next blog post after this one)
  • You’ve paid your bills this month! What’s more, you use wifi that isn’t stolen from the coffee shop next door and your cell phone receives phone calls. This may sound basic but there are entire countries that haven’t managed this level of sophistication. So for you to have $6.00 to your name for the rest of the week is honestly ok. You have the stuff you need to survive. So you can't get that $4.00 drink from Starbucks...guess what honey, you'll live.
  • You have hobbies: Drinking can be a hobby. From now on just call yourself a liquor connoisseur. Cause I mean, same. But anywho! If you don't have a hobby, find one. Music, blogging, drinking. Woah, those are mine! I lead by example...
  • You can travel if you want to. I’m not talking about a trip to the Bahamas for a long weekend but you do have enough money to put gas in your car, so that’s a win.
  • You want to know how you know you're doing just fine? It is when people listen to you. You’re finding that people are actually starting to listen to you. Maybe the only significant change you’ve made is getting them to restock the bathroom with more TP, but change is change. You start somewhere.
    • I use to think of this as me getting older, but nah...I guess people kinda look up to me?
Hopefully, after this blog you now realize not everything is going to happen today, some things take a time and you’re just stressing yourself out by worrying about it. This has made life a helluva lot easier, so chill out. You're young...you're gucci...you're okay.
