Once upon a time, in a happy forest...
I'm sure you've heard of them by now, but let me just tell you a little story..
“Once upon a time, in a happy forest, in the happiest tree, lived the happiest creatures the world has ever known: the Trolls.” Trolls are tiny fluorescent-haired creatures who live in a culture saturated with...happy. Their enemies, the Bergens, can only experience happiness in life by eating them.
So? Sound familiar yet? If you haven't seen the movie, Trolls, here is a little run down. Twenty years since escaping Bergen captivity, Troll princess Poppy (Anna Kendrick) throws a big party on the anniversary of their escape, much to the objection of Branch (Justin Timberlake): a paranoid gray Troll who fears the festivities will attract Bergens. Unsurprisingly, the prediction is fulfilled, and many of Poppy’s friends are pocketed, prompting Poppy and Branch to embark on a quest to save her friends. Along the way, they barter with Bridget (Zooey Deschanel), the Bergen maid guarding the captives, to help her seduce the young Bergen King if she aids the Trolls in their escape. However, Poppy’s imprisoned love interest Creek (Russell Brand) strikes a deal of his own, selling out his brethren to save his skin. Many other asinine events occur during their “hero’s journey,” but I’ll leave it up to you to go watch one of my favorite movies.
Tonight on NBC, Trolls Holiday was aired and I realized that I...I am Poppy. You see, when I first watched this movie, I was SO engaged. I've never reacted to a movie like I did to this one. Come on, Justin Timberbae is in it. How can it be bad? But tonight, I realized in the Holiday special that I am truly Poppy.
In the holiday special, Poppy just wants to make Bridget and the Bergens happy. Throwing them holiday ideas, glitter, singing, glitter, socks, and umm, glitter. If you know me you'd realize that I am the exact same way. The holiday season is amongst us and I LOVE IT! I get to spoil people. I love birthdays, christmas, and basically anytime of the year where I have an excuse to give someone something thoughtful. I won't spoil the ending for you, but this 30 minute special definitely made me realize that I am Poppy and I am PROUD! Great hair, crafting, and most importantly...glitter. Don't be a Bergen this holiday season. Be a troll!
