I Met a Sloth

This is one of my first adventure blogs. Working for an airline like I do, I am sure many of these blogs will be sure to come. But this is literally the story when my life got turnt upside side, because sloths hang upside down.

I was on my way to Midlothian, Texas for a business trip. Days before the business trip, I was given permission to go an explore the area. So I do what anyone would do. *Googles sloths in Texas.* An article came up about a sloth named Sandy. Sandy Sandy is a two-toed sloth rescued from the jungles of Guyana, north of Brazil. She was adopted by her owner, Deana, who adopted her is 2015. Deana and Sandy both live in Flower Mound, Texas. Yeah don't worry...I've never heard of it either. But to me, this is all starting to be like a weird knock off version of Spongebob. Sandy isn't a squirrel, but a sloth. Flowers are not clouds, but the name of the city.

Doing some investigative FBI creeping on social media, I was able to become apart of the fan club of Sandy and she immediately stole my heart like most sloths do. I told my mom, "I am going to Texas for a business trip and I have a few hours for exploring. So I'm going to go meet a sloth. I am literally traveling multiple hours to meet a sloth." AND WHAT A TRIP IT WAS! The business aspect of everything will not be going in this blog, but I am SO happy I was able to go to Texas.

I land in DFW and I get my rent a car. I have my sloth socks on and I AM LIVING. I was 20 minutes away from meeting Sandy and I was fan girling...bad. I had called a few days prior to my arrival in Texas to see if I could be apart of the "Sandy Experience." Which is 30 minutes with Sandy and basically life changing for a sloth lover like me. Unfortunately, Deana was booked. But I was still determined to meet Sandy through the walls of her habitat. Once I got enough guts to go inside of the Flower Mound chapter of the Earthwise Pet Supply chain, I was IMMEDIATELY taken away by how incredibly nice Deana was and the other staff member. "How can I help you?" "Actually, I know this seems silly...but I am from Ohio and I stopped by to see Sandy!" "Right! You must be Jennifer. Lets go see if Sandy wants to wake up for us."

I was walking over to the habitat and Sandy started to wake up just a little bit and I was fighting tears. Deana got in the habitat with Sandy and I was taking tons of pictures outside. Deana, "Sandy actually has quite a bit of energy right now. She doesn't normally act like this. Would you want to feed her? A mini Sandy Experience if you would want?" The next thing you know I am rolling up my sleeves and cleaning my hands to get into the sloth habitat. Deana hands me a piece of fruit and says, "Feed her. I'll take some photos for you." And then...I fell in love. I was petting and feeding a talking to a sloth, face to snout. My favorite creature on this earth. Me. A little ol blogger from Ohio was feeding a sloth in Flower Mound Texas. I love all sloths, but this one? She is my favorite. I encourage you to watch my adventure take place and dare you to try and not fall in love with the adorable sloth, Sandy.
