Important Things You Only Learn From Your “Little” Sister

So, there is this person in my life that is extremely important to me. And that person is…my little. When you are in Greek Life, you have the opportunity to get a little if you are eligible. There’s nothing quite like having a little in your life who looks up to you as much as she does. (right, little? Cause I know you’re reading this.) In honor of a year ago being our “metcha day” here are some really important things that I learned from my Little.

How to own up to your mistakes.
  • You might be stubborn (like me), but you'll learn how to own up to your wrongful actions when you have a little around. You can bet she's going to call you out on it, too. You're a human, you'll f*ck up from time to time. By admitting to it, you're taking her down a strong, moral path. I know that I have done some seriously regretful things, but she does call me out on it and I will always be thankful.
How to be a leader.
  • Yeah, I am studying Organizational Leadership so I do know the fundamentals of leadership. But my little made a leader out of me. Well, a stronger one. When you become a big, you immediately become a source of guidance. They look up to you and listen to everything you say. Well, most of the time.
How to be compassionate.
  • Littles come with a lot of love and tenderness. They'll teach you about compassion before you get a chance to experience your first college broken heart.
How to be protective.
  • You develop a protective gene really quickly when you become a big. If anyone messes with her, you'll be up in a bitch’s face faster than a mouse on cheese. Amirite? You'll be her greatest supporter and you’ll fight for her when she can't fight for herself. You know you are the ultimate Little when literally everyone calls you Little. Or when you are in a group of people and you say "Little" and people know its her. So many people are protective over your little and it is great! probably not for her in the dating world. You have to be pretty great to date my little.
How to become someone you’re proud of.
  • You want to set a good example for your little because you're her role model. This means you'll need to become a person you're proud to be. Since you want her to be her best self, you'll need to be your best self.
How to care about someone more than you do yourself.
  • The moment you became a big, you learned what it felt like to care about someone more than you cared about yourself. She taught you what it means to be selfless. I have always had a heart for others more than myself, but she really took the cake. Goes back to the protective bullet.
How not to give a f*ck.
  • Any bomb Little knows this is the greatest lesson she can teach her Big. She's the person who will teach you the blissful art of seriously not giving a f*ck.  Overall, I do like doing Hoodrat stuff with my Little <3
