Get What You Get Gumball Machine
A few days ago, I posted a video on Facebook about "gumball machine tattoos." That is right. A gumball machine full of random tattoo designs and it chooses your next tattoo for you and is meant to encourage spontaneity. A friend of mine found a place that does them near me! Meanwhile, my high school best friend commented on this post and said she would do this with me. So, Kristen and I made plans to get a gum ball machine tattoo.
Tonight, after Kristen and I both were off work, we decided to meet up at RocArt tattoo in Dayton, Ohio. I haven't seen Kristen in years, so it was nice to catch up. We go inside and approach the machine. "I don't even want to know what I am getting! I just want to get it. Get what I get." And that is what I did. I put my quarter in the machine to get my design, and the machine took my quarter. I should have took this as a sign to RUN. But after retrieving my quarter, I took a go for it again and got two designs. I gave them both to Josh, the tattoo artist, and told him he has to decide out of the two because I do not want to look at the design.
Kristen went first for her tattoo and of course handled it with EASE. When it came my turn to go, I was getting a bit nervous but no turning back now. I was about to get a design I don't know, in a tattoo shop I've never been, by a guy I don't know, with my close friend who commented on my Facebook post that she wanted to do this with me. Like, WHAT THE HECK? Honestly? People are probably wondering what I am doing doing this and to that I say, living a little.
The entire time I had absolutely no clue what the tattoo was looking like or anything. For all I know, it could be a giant penis on the inside of my left leg and I'm paying someone $50 to do it. But, I LOVED HOW IT TURNED OUT! Thank you to RocArt tattoos for having the machine and for being such a great environment! Y'all are AWESOME! And a HUGE shoutout to Josh, @jbaxs on Instagram, for taking the design and making it beautiful and really for me.
If you are thinking about doing this, I say JUST DO IT! Yeah, its on you forever...but life is too short. Be spontaneous.
